The system is varied by divison.

NVCS and GS use full 42 grid slots
NGSTS use 40 grid slots (40-1 counting 40 positions)[max of 43 points]
Razor Aero uses 35 grid slots (35-1 counting 35 positions)[max of 38 points]
Kelloggs Series, Canadian Cup, and Mexican Series uses 30 grid slots (30-1 counting 30 positions)[max of 33 points]
Most of the regionals except for Dirt Tour use 25 grid slots (25-1 counting 25 positions) [max of 28 points]
Dirt Tour, and European Tour use 20 grid slots (20-1 counting 20 positions) [max of 23 points]
